Hi guys! I’m getting super anxious and confused so just wanted to see if anyone could help.
I took two pregnancy test yesterday after trying to conceive and being late two days. The line test came out positive but light line, the digital test then said “pregnant” an hour or two later. Then I went to my doctor who require a urine test before an appointment and got a negative. I tested again right now and it is positive. I waited the correct time for the at home pregnancy test and not expired.
Just feeling a little down. Nurse said to just come back in a week and might be still t too early but still so nervous now.
Thanks for the help in advance. testnervous.

That’s weird. I would call them back and request a blood test. You’ll know for sure that way

I had this happen to me last week! 6 positive urine at home tests (3 different types of tests) and went to the doctor and their urine test was negative. I came home and took another test and it was positive. They did blood work and it was positive, I am indeed pregnant. Definitely get a blood test done. I read a lot online about how doctors office test are not as sensitive as at home tests which is why your hcg levels may not have triggered the positive result. Best of luck!!!

@katie12819,
so good to know I’m not the only one this happened to, it’s so crappy to be so excited and be told nope. I’ll probably call and request a blood test then. Thank you!

I read another post similar to this the other day, come to find out the nurse didn’t give the test the allotted amount of time. Just have it a few seconds and called it negative.

@cmar12311,
that’s so upsetting because it’s such a happy time! I will just ask for a blood test. Thank you for you help!

The ones they use at the doctors have to have a higher amount of hcg to be positive, the ones we use at home are more sensitive

Exact same thing happened to me with my first a couple years ago. Went back one week later and got the positive. Honestly I just think doctors offices don’t see the value in spending money on the early detection tests and the test they’re using might not be as sensitive as the ones you buy. If you’re getting positives at home that’s great! Go back in a week and I’m sure it’s all good!

@pooh_bear16,
gosh that’s so promising and relieving to hear. I think I’ll either call tomorrow and ask for a blood test or just wait the week and go back. Thank you so much

Girlllll same thing happened to me last week! Five super solid positives at home - negative at the doctor’s office. They had me take another and it was positive - turns out the nurse just didn’t wait long enough for the first one and it was taking a long time to turn positive. Took a blood test just in case and yes, pregnant. I think I heard their tests aren’t as sensitive as the take homes! Don’t worry about it and just go next week

I used to work in the lab and ran pregnancy tests all the time. I worked in a world renowned hospital and they used cheap pregnancy tests. They looked like the 88 cent Walmart ones, but pretty sure they weren’t the same brand. Their sensitivity was definitely less than First Response.

@VikingMaiden,
that just be it then! I mean it makes sense, they obviously do tests constantly and the cost adds up quickly so I understand why they do the sensitive ones. But it’s good to know because it’s a little heartbreaking when you are so excited and tested so much at home with positives and then get the nurse say negative. But she was so sweet about it and just said come back in a week so that’s what I’m going to do and I’m confident it’ll be different next time. Thank you for your help

@ysantiago25,
 I’m so sorry to hear that. I had one last year and it’s terrible. That’s why I’m so concerned constantly about this one.

the doctors office uses those little stops that they get in bulk. they aren't as sensitive as a lot of home pregnancy tests.

@wittenh1,
I hope that’s what it is but I guess I’ll just go back Monday and hope to get that positive there

Also, they do mix up the samples sometimes. I was at the lab the other day and someone had a certificate for no mix ups in a few months and I was like whattttt?????
